NEW! Transplantation Sustainability Award

The Transplantation Sustainability Award is a prestigious new award, introduced for the ESOT Congress 2025 and in alignment with this year’s theme of "Nurturing a sustainable transplantation journey".

This award seeks to honour groundbreaking research that significantly advances the sustainability of transplantation practices, ensuring that these life-saving procedures remain viable, ethical and accessible for future generations.

The winner will be awarded €3,000 and invited to submit their work to Transplant International for publication (ESOT will waive all publication fees), adhering to the journal’s guidelines.

Definition of Sustainability in Transplantation:

Sustainability in transplantation refers to practices that enhance the long-term viability of transplant procedures. This includes innovations in organ preservation, reducing the environmental impact of transplantation processes, improving equitable access to transplantation and ensuring the ethical use of resources. It also encompasses research that addresses the social, economic and environmental challenges associated with transplantation, aiming to make the practice more efficient, less resource-intensive, and more universally accessible.

All abstracts that contribute to the advancement of sustainable transplantation practices are eligible for consideration. The research should demonstrate a clear connection to enhancing the sustainability of the transplantation process.
