Past and Future

The first edition of the ESOT Congress was held in 1983 in Zurich, Switzerland. Since then, and over the past four decades, the congress has served as a leading forum in the field of transplantation, motivating and inspiring countless individuals from across our community.

The ESOT Congress 2023 - Athens,
17-20 September, 2023

Under the overarching theme of ‘Disruptive Innovation, Trusted Care’, the ESOT Congress 2023 was held in the birthplace of civilisation, Athens, from 17-20 September. Participants attended onsite and online from over 80 different countries, providing networking opportunities and knowledge exchange on a truly global scale.


As we shift into a technologically-driven world, the congress immersed delegates into the latest opportunities and challenges across the field of transplantation. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, the congress featured the latest research and innovation from prominent scientists and physicians, offering attendees a unique opportunity to connect science with medicine.
